The workshop will be based on the theory in his new book, "Choice Theory: Redefining Your Personal Freedom," which says all human success is based on creating and maintaining good personal relationships.
Glasser argues teachers should change the way they see themselves and their students to improve the classroom environment. He will also discuss how contemporary attitudes and values are harmful to relationships we need to succeed.
Glasser has worked in rehabilitation, juvenile correction and private practice as a psychiatrist. He has worked in public schools since 1963 and has developed the theory that school failure is destructive to the mental health of the failing child, and that no school should fail a child. He eventually developed the Quality School Consortium, a task force that works to persuade schools to use quality management principles instead of discipline principles.
Glasser is also founder and president of the William Glasser Institute in Chatsworth, a not-for-profit foundation that provides training in Glasser's concepts.
The workshop is presented by CSUN's Centers in Educational Psychology. Prices are $50 for students and $55 for all others. Discounts are available for group registration of five or more people.
