CSUN Screens Top Student Films

Watch out James Cameron, the next "king of the world" just may be found at Cal State Northridge.

The public will get a chance to see the work of some of the university's top student filmmakers on Wednesday, April 29, at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in Beverly Hills.

The eighth annual "Student Film Showcase" by CSUN's Department of Radio-Television-Film is free and open to the public. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire Blvd.

"The showcase highlights a really broad and diverse sampling of creative work," said professor Temma Kramer. "It's a capstone for our senior level students and a way of providing an introduction for them to the creative community and to honor their work."

Five films made by Cal State Northridge students will be shown:

"We really have a broad range of film making technology represented, from digital and computer technology to 16 mm and 35 mm film," Kramer said. "And the themes of these films range from love and romance to a political statement about the conflict in Northern Ireland."

For more information about the showcase or to make reservations, call the Radio-Television-Film Department at (818) 677-3192.
