CSUN Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Louanne Kennedy said that due to continued high enrollments, the campus cannot accommodate Freshmen applicants beyond the initial filing period of November, nor can it serve new lower division transfer students in Fall 1998.
"Our first commitment must be to provide our current and continuing students with high-quality instruction and adequate course offerings and limiting the number of new lower division students to the campus will assist in our meeting this objective," Kennedy said.
However, in keeping with the Master Plan for Higher Education in California, the campus will remain open to qualified upper division transfer and graduate applicants beyond Nov. 30 until the targeted number of applications has been reached.
To qualify as an upper division transfer student, applicants must have completed at least 56.0 transferable college units with a grade point average of 2.0 or better and have completed all four general education basic subject courses in writing, mathematics, critical thinking and speech no later than the end of Spring, 1998.
Applicants who wish to be considered for the Fall 1998 semester are encouraged to apply during the month of November.
