Cal State Northridge continues its new initiative to prepare students for careers in Hollywood with two forums that explore the music business and movie visual effects on Tuesday, April 28, and Thursday, May 7.
The first forum, "Music and The Internet: The Future of the Business," features a panel of recording industry professionals who will conduct an open discussion on the implications of a "wired" world where musical artists are able to deliver their product directly to the consumer.
Panelists include Marc Geiger, President of ArtistsDIRECT; Ted Krysczko, Director of Product Development for Walt Disney Records; Ted Cohen, consultant to the Music Marketing Network; Regina Kelland, President of Kelland Consulting; and Josh Warner, President of Blink Media.
The discussion is from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the University Student Union Grand Salon, located on the east side of campus at 18111 Nordhoff St., in Northridge.
The second forum, "Visual Effects in Filmmaking," will take place on Thursday, May 7, and will feature experts who work behind the scenes creating visual effects in the filmmaking process. The panelists include Colin Wilson, Producer of "The Lost World: Jurassic Park"; Steve Molen, Associate Producer of "Men in Black"; and Jim Morris, President of Lucas Digital LTD/ILM.
This event is part of CSUN's California SUN International Animation Festival and is only open to students, faculty and staff. It will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Campus Theatre, located on the south side of campus.
Both events are sponsored by the university's Entertainment Industry Institute. The Institute was created through a collaboration of the College of Arts, Media and Communication, the College of Business Administration and Economics and the College of Engineering and Computer Science with a goal of helping students strengthen ties with the entertainment industry.
