Family and Consumer Sciences Career Conference

The deadline for priority registration for Cal State Northridge's "Family and Consumer Sciences Career Conference," an exploration of career opportunities, is Oct. 10.

The conference, scheduled for Oct. 31, is aimed at those interested in consumer affairs, interior design, apparel design, merchandising, home economics education, child development, family studies, nutrition, dietetics and food science.

Admission to the conference is free and open to the public. Those who do not pre-register will be accommodated on a space availability basis. Participants can purchase a pre-paid box lunch for $7.50.

Experts will speak of future career trends and will later be available for informal roundtable discussions. Local employers are scheduled to set-up career exhibits related to family and consumer sciences.

Adele Scheele, director of CSUN's Career Center and author of "The Good Student Trap," "Skills for Success," and "Career Strategies for Working women," is also scheduled to discuss the management of a career in the 21st Century.

The event is sponsored by the CSUN Department of Family Environmental Sciences, the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and the CSUN Career Center.
