CSUN Honors Business Leadership

Cal State Northridge is honoring two San Fernando Valley businessmen and Bank of America for their leadership and commitment to the community on Monday, June 1.

In addition to the Bank of America, the university's College of Business Administration and Economics is also recognizing alum Gary C. Dickey, a partner with the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP, and Sanford P. Paris, owner of Paris Industrial Parks, a real estate development company.

"These business leaders exemplify the mission of our college to 'enrich our community by preparing students to succeed in a diverse and dynamic economy,'" said William Hosek, dean of the college. "As the involvement and support of our friends in the external community becomes increasingly important, we are really delighted to have this opportunity to express our appreciation."

This is the third year that the College of Business Administration and Economics has honored community business leaders. Past recipients include The Xerox Corporation, Great Western Bank and businessmen F. Anthony Kurtz and John R. Golisch, a partner in the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen.

Dickey will receive the Alumni Leadership Award. He has served on the college's Council of Business Advisors, sat on the university's Foundation Board and was chair of the President's Business Council.

Paris will receive the Community Leadership Award. He has served on the Council of Business Advisors and is the founding chair of the new Center for the Study for the San Fernando Valley Economy.

Bank of America will receive the Corporate Leadership Award for its support of the college, including two $50,000 pledges supporting the Business Student Equity Center, which helps disadvantaged students. Specifically, the bank has thrown its support behind the Jump Start Program, which helps ready high school students for college, and the establishment of a mentoring program slated to begin this fall that will pair lower classmen one-on-one with executives. The bank is also a member of the college's Business Partners program.

The awards will be presented at a special luncheon scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on June 1 in the University Club on the southeast corner of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
