On Wednesday, Sept. 10, the university is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. to mark the reopening of its Kinesiology Building, which was closed over the summer as crews repaired damage sustained during the 1994 Northridge earthquake.
On Monday, Sept. 22, university will celebrate the return of Jerome Richfield Hall at 2 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony. That building has been closed since the Jan. 17, 1994, quake because of severe damage.
Both buildings officially reopened for classes on Aug. 25, when Fall classes started.
"We've come a long way thanks to very hard work by people who really care about this university," said Art Elbert, vice president for administration and finance.
