The day includes a "5K Breath Walk 'n Run Thru CSUN" and the "1997 Breath Games," which are a chance for children with asthma to participate in track and field events, inducing obstacle runs, long jump, softball throw, shot put, modified discus, and 50-, 100- and 200-meter dashes.
The games will feature appearances by Olympic Gold Medalist Rafer Johnson and the Red Turbo Power Ranger.
Registration for the walk and run is at 7:30 a.m., with the event beginning at 9 a.m. Registration for the games begins at 9 a.m., with the opening ceremonies slated for 9:45 a.m.
Participation in the Breath Games is $5 per child if postmarked by Oct. 20, and $10 thereafter. Scholarships are available. All participants will receive a T-shirt and awards will be presented to the first-, second-, and third-place male and female finishers in each event.
The entry fee for the walk and run is $20 if postmarked by Oct. 20, and $25 thereafter.
