Louanne Kennedy, provost and vice president for academic affairs, said priority will be given to transfer students from California public community colleges.
Eligibility for admission as an upper division transfer student requires at least 56.0 transferable units with a grade point average of 2.0 or better and the completion of a general education writing class and a general education mathematics class with grades of "C" or better prior to the spring 1998 term.
Kennedy said the university will accept applications from upper division transfer students until it runs out of space. "And this may occur as early as September," she said.
Applications for first-time freshmen and lower division transfer students for spring 1998 will be accepted until Aug. 31.
University officials expect post-baccalaureate and graduate admissions to remain open until approximately Nov. 1, but may close them earlier if they run out of spaces before that date.
