Lee's presentation is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in Music Recital Hall 158 on the southwest corner of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
Lee's collection of poems, "Rose," won New York University's 1986 Delmore Schwartz Memorial Poetry Award, and his collection titled "The City In Which I Love You" was the 1990 Lamont Poetry Selection of the Academy of American Poets.
Lee has received several honors including a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship and a Writer's Award from the Mrs. Giles Whiting Foundation.
The James Steel Smith Lecture Series is named after a former Northridge professor who died in 1988. The series was endowed by his wife to bring distinguished scholars, artists and thinkers in the humanities to the campus.
