CSUN CONCERT TO SHOWCASE KOREAN STUDENTS

Sixty Korean students from the Seoul Superior Conservatory of Music - who have been studying in the Music Department at Cal State Northridge for the past five weeks - will perform in evening concerts July 16 and 17 at the university.

The July 16 concert will feature the SSCM Chamber Orchestra performing Symphony Nr. 3 by David Whitwell and Commemoration Symphony by Anton Reicha.

Whitwell, a CSUN professor, composedSymphony Nr. 3 after being inspired by a reading of Shakespeare's Hamlet Reicha's Commemoration Symphony was composed in 1815 after the fall of Napoleon.

A concert of opera scenes and dance will be presented during the July 17 evening's performance. Scenes from Cosi Fan Tutte and The Marriage of Figaro will be highlighted as well as a dance sequence from the Broadway musical A Chorus Line.

Both performances begin at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall, on Nordhoff St. between Lindley and Etiwanda Avenues. Admission is free.
