The internships will be available this fall to 12 CSUN undergraduates interested in working with community service agencies, synagogues and schools that serve the Jewish community.
Dr. Jody Myers, coordinator of the Jewish Studies Program at Cal State Northridge, said the internships are the first of their kind to be offered to undergraduate students in the West. She said interns usually are graduate students getting their masters in social work or Jewish studies.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for our students, and provides us a way to put people on a career track they might not otherwise be exposed to," Myers said. "This is a chance for students to connect their academic studies to the community."
In addition to the experience, the interns will receive 3 units of academic credit and a small stipend.
