CSUN's Foundry Has a Fiery Re-Opening

Amidst the roar of a fire and the dance of brilliant green and yellow flames, Cal State Northridge will officially re-open its foundry with a bronze casting demonstration on Monday, Dec. 2.

The re-opening of the foundry, which was closed nearly three years ago following the Northridge Earthquake, will be at 4:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the university's Art and Design Center on Plummer Street just east of Etiwanda Ave.

The foundry is the only fully operational, non-commercial foundry in the greater Los Angeles area. It first opened more than 25 years ago and is used by the university's sculpture and ceramic students to fire their creations. The foundry has the capability to do bronze and aluminum casting.

With the re-opening, the university will begin offering bronze casting courses this spring.
