IT'S GETTING CLOSER...

It's less than three weeks away. And you don't want to miss it. Celebrities will be cheering for you. There will be free food, prizes and it's for a good cause. It's a winning combination. So what are you waiting for? Come join Cal State Northridge in the 12th annual AIDS WALK Los Angeles on Sunday, September 29.

The university is inviting the community to join its students, faculty and staff on the 10k walk through Hollywood. The events benefits AIDS project Los Angeles (APLA), Southern California's most comprehensive AIDS Service, education and advocacy organization.

Last year more than 23,000 people, including more than 200 from CSUN, raised over $3.2 million for APLA. Proceeds from the AIDS WALK will be used to continue providing basic, life-sustaining services to more than 5,500 L.A. county men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS. Founded in 1982, the APLA also works to reduce the incidence of HIV through risk-reduction education and training programs.

The CSUN team will meet on campus at 7:30 a.m. on September 29, for a free continental breakfast before buses take the walkers to Paramount Studios in time for the 9 a.m. start of the walk.

There is no fee to participate, but registration is required. For more information and registration forms, contact Amy Reichbach, team leader, at (818) 677-3683.
