Students' Education Is Not Just In The Classroom Anymore
Thanks to CSUN's International Program

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Nov. 4, 2004) Ð The Internet is bringing the world closer, but it still doesn't lend itself to communication on an interpersonal level. For that you still need one-on-one contact.

Nearly 40 Cal State Northridge students are getting just such an experience this year by studying abroad as part of the university's International Program.

"The students that have participated in the international program have come back different", said Marta Lopez, advisor of the university's international program. "They have come back independent, good decision makers, with different perspectives in relation to the world around them, and it has had positive effects on their lives."

Lopez said the only challenge she sees is the misconception that students think it too expensive to participate in the program.

Lopez added the cost is estimated to be about the same to attend CSUN. Some destinations are a little more costly then others, for example, Mexico is a little less expensive than Japan.
