CSUN to Host Interdisciplinary Symposium on Gender
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Nov. 10, 2004) -- Are females the only sex that can be nurturers? Is it against nature for males to become nurturers? Are these characteristics hereditary, or are they learned?
Cal State Northridge students and faculty will explore these and other questions at "On, Women, Men, and the Rest of Us: An Interdisciplinary Symposium on Gender" on Monday, Nov. 15.
The symposium will take place form 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the special events room at the Sierra Center on the west side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge.
Six researchers in the field of philosophy, sociology, women's studies, and religion will discuss the underpinnings of gender and status as a natural category. C. Jacob Hale, a professor in CSUN's Department of Philosophy.
