CSUN's Cinematheque Explores
Story, Plot and Style in Fall Series

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Aug. 26, 2004) -- Cal State Northridge's Cinematheque series this fall will explore the principles of narration in film--story, plot and style.

The fall offerings include The Great Gatsby, starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow and directed by Jack Clayton with Francis Ford Coppola, on Monday, Aug. 30; Otto Preminger's Laura, starring Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews, on Sept. 22; Barbet Schroeder's Reversal of Fortune, starring Glenn Close and Jeremy Irons, on Oct. 4; and Mike Hodges' I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, starring Clive Owen, Charlotte Rampling, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Malcolm McDowell, on Oct. 21.

The screenings are sponsored by the Cinematheque to support the academic mission of the Department of Cinema and Television Arts. They are usually provided in conjunction with a required class lecture. Priority seating is reserved for those students enrolled in the course. Any additional seating is free and open to the public.

The screenings take place in the Alan and Elaine Armer Theater in Northridge's Manzanita Hall, located at the southwest corner of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St.

Most of the evenings will begin with a lecture at 7 p.m., followed by the screenings.

For a complete program listing and show times, visit the Cinematheque's Web site at www.CSUNCinematheque.com.

The only venue of its kind in the San Fernando Valley, the Cinematheque is offered by CSUN's Department of Cinema and Television Arts. It presents thematically-designed retrospectives of classic films, as well as aesthetically significant contemporary releases in conjunction with the appearance of featured guest artists for lectures and panel discussions.
