Public Invited to Spend an Autumn Day
Shopping to Support Inclusive Education

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Sept. 16, 2004) -- The latest in jewelry fashion, the hottest trends in handbags, and handmade adult and children's clothing are just some of the items that will be for sale at the CHIME Autumn Days Boutique on Saturday, Oct. 9.

Members of the public are invited to join CHIME Institute parents, teachers and administrators at the third annual fundraiser supporting the institute and its educational programs.

The boutique will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. at CHIME Charter Elementary School,19722 Collier St. in Woodland Hills.

The CHIME Institute, located at Cal State Northridge, is a national leader in developing and implementing model educational programs and dynamic research and training environments to disseminate best practices in inclusive education. Its charter elementary and middle schools are independent facilities that provide free public education through affiliation with the Los Angeles Unified School District. The schools serve as demonstration and teacher training sites for Northridge's nationally acclaimed Michael D. Eisner College of Education.

The work of the CHIME Institute was recently recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the 2004 National Charter School Conference as a national model for full inclusion of students with disabilities and for providing a blueprint for local schools across the country.

The boutique will also feature food, compliments of Fabrocini's Italian Kitchen, Sancho's: A Taste of Mexico and Village Café, Greek Cuisine. Twenty percent of all sales at the boutique will go to the institute.
