CSUN Invites Public to Free Preview of Shattered Glass
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Nov. 5, 2003) - The public is invited to join Cal State Northridge faculty and students for a free screening of Shattered Glass, which chronicles the downfall of journalist Stephen Glass, on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
The movie, starring Hayden Christensen and Peter Sarsgaard, will be shown at 4 p.m. in the Alan and Elaine Armer Theater in Manzanita Hall, located near the southwest corner of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge.
Shattered Glass is filmmaker Billy Ray's study of the rise and fall of Glass, who at age 25 wrote headline-grabbing stories for such publications as Harper's, Rolling Stone, and George magazines. It was while he was working at The New Republic that Glass' editors discovered that most of his stories were made up.
The screening of Shattered Glass is part of the university's Cinematheque offerings.
The Cinematheque is the only venue of its kind in the San Fernando Valley. Offered by CSUN's Department of Cinema and Television Arts, it presents thematically-designed retrospectives of classic films, as well as aesthetically significant contemporary releases in conjunction with the appearances of featured guest artists for lectures and panel discussions.
The public is invited to come to the screenings early and enjoy the Cinematheque Gallery of Film Poster Art, the only permanent museum collection of classic motion picture posters in the United States.
