CHIME Charter to Ease Transition
to Kindergarten with Breakfast for Parents

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Aug. 26, 2003) - Hoping to make the transition to kindergarten easier, CHIME Charter Elementary School is hosting a "Welcome Breakfast" on Tuesday, Sept. 2, for the parents of the school's youngest students.

The breakfast will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. in the kindergarten playground on the east side of the school at 19722 Collier St. in Woodland Hills.

"The first day of school can be really difficult for parents, who have been responsible for their own children from the time they were born and then have to turn them over to other people," said Julie Fabrocini, principal at CHIME Charter. "I think the idea of getting together for breakfast and having the opportunity to share with other parents assists not only the parents but also their children as they make this transition. Going to kindergarten is a big step for everyone."

Forty youngsters aged four and five years old will be starting elementary school for the first time at CHIME on Sept. 2.

CHIME Charter Elementary School and its sister campus, CHIME Charter Middle School, are independent schools that provide free public education through affiliation with the Los Angeles Unified School District. The schools serve as demonstration and teacher-training sites for Cal State Northridge's nationally acclaimed Michael D. Eisner College of Education.
