The evening will begin at 7 p.m. and feature the showing of Gunshots & Word Thoughts and Extraordinarily Ordinary, two films created by Vickroy, a cinema and television arts professor.
"I am very excited to have the first screening in the new Alan and Elaine Armer Theater at CSUN," Vickroy said. "Gunshots & Word Thoughts is the second in a series of documentary portraits about eccentric people."
Gunshots & Word Thoughts chronicles Vickroyıs travels to the Ozarks to discover why her 71-year-old father, Lloyd Vickroy, returned to his farm in West Plains, Mo., to work the land.
Vickroy documents the life of 38-year-old Los Angeles artist Val Echavarria, in Extraordinarily Ordinary. The film examines Echavarriaıs struggles as she asserts her individuality as a Mexican-American woman who never plans to have children and is coming to terms with her motherıs death from AIDS and a difficult relationship with her father.
