CSUN Gets Spooky and Scary on Halloween Night

(NORTHRIDGE Calif., Oct. 8, 2002) On a typical day, Cal State Northridge's University Park Apartments is filled with students eating, sleeping and studying.

But the evening of Oct. 31, the apartments will be transformed into a Halloween way station when ghouls and goblins will be passing out treats to neighborhood children.

"CSUN Safe Trick or Treat" will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. in the apartments at the north end of the campus at 17950 Lassen St. in Northridge.

"We invite all the local little goblins, fairies and firefighters to spend the evening touring our haunted house and getting treats," said Yvette Gonzalez, special projects coordinator for CSUN's Residential Life.

"Our students get so much from the community that we want to give something back," Gonzalez said. "Providing a safe Halloween for families is our way of saying thank you."

The event will feature door-to-door trick or treating through the apartments that culminates with a carnival filled with games and crafts all under the watchful eyes of CSUN student volunteers.

The CSUN students also plan a haunted house for the more daring trick or treaters.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call Yvette Gonzalez at (818) 677-4636 or Juan Regalado at (818) 677-2160 ext. 259.
