CSUN Invites the Public To "Walk for New York"

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Oct. 31, 2001) - Cal State Northridge¹s Leisure Studies and Recreation Department is doing its part to help the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks by sponsoring a "Walk for New York" on Saturday, Nov. 3.

The one- to one-and-a-half mile walk will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will take participants on a scenic tour of the campus, located at 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge.

Registration for all participants will be at 10 a.m. near the corner of Nordhoff Street and Etiwanda Avenue.

The walk is coordinated by Leisure Studies and Recreation lecturer Paulette Schuster through the department¹s course, "Foundations of Therapeutic Recreation and Special Populations."

"The event will provide an opportunity for people of all ages, ethnicities and abilities to come together and learn about each other while helping the nation in this time of crisis," Schuster said.

All proceeds will be donated to the Knowledge is Power Foundation, a fund raiser started by FM radio station Power 106, to aid the families of the victims of Sept. 11.

Any donation is welcome. Individuals who donate $25 or more will receive a T-shirt while supplies last.

Tax deductible forms are available for all donations.
