CSUN To Host 2001 CSU Media Arts Festival
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Oct. 12, 2001) - It can be tough getting a break in the entertainment industry, but the annual CSU Summer Arts Media Arts Festival, hosted by Cal State Northridge this November, will give students an opportunity to get their work seen.
The festival will be held from Friday, Nov. 9, through Sunday, Nov. 11, at CSUN's Nordhoff Hall located on the southwest side of campus, 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
Students studying film, video and new media within the 23-campus California State University system have submitted their work for review. Finalists selected by CSU professors and industry leaders will have their work screened during the three-day festival. Cash prizes and the prestigious Rosebud Award will be presented to winning students.
Last year, 39 finalists from 116 entries were chosen. Since 1990, more than 1,300 students have submitted entries to the festival.
In addition to the screenings, the Media Arts Festival offers seminars and other events geared to helping CSU students become better prepared to work in the entertainment industry.
Each year, the Media Arts Festival presents a distinguished achievement award to a media industry leader. The 2001 Industry Honoree is director, producer and former child actor Gene Reynolds. A retrospective of his work will be shown at the festival.
Evening events at the festival are free to the public.
