Northridge political science professor Jane Bayes will talk about the meeting of non-governmental organizations as well as the official United Nations conference.
Mary Beth Welch-Orozco, interim chair of Northridge's Women's Studies Department, will recount discussions of lesbian rights as human rights.
Elahe Amani, a women's studies professor at Cal State Long Beach, will talk about her interviews with Muslim Irani women; Sondra Hale, an anthropology and women's studies professor at UCLA, will discuss her conversations with Sudanese Muslim women; and Mari Riddle, director of the Coalition for Women's Economic Development, will talk about women's economic development as well as the issues raised by Latin American women.
The Oct. 30 discussion is free and open to the public. Prior to the discussion will be a reception at 6:30 p.m. during which slides and videotape of the conference will be shown.
