The presentation will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. in Conference Room 4117 of the School of Business Administration and Economics. Among those in attendance will be Assistant IRS Commissioner Jim Donaldson and Los Angeles director for the IRS, Richard Orozco.
The commissioner also will recognize the unique partnership that has developed between VITA and CLR Electronics, CompUSA and Epson. The businesses have donated equipment and software to VITA to help serve the community.
VITA was started 25 years ago to train business students to prepare income tax returns for taxpayers who are elderly, disabled, non-English speaking, or from low income backgrounds. The students provide their services for free. It was the first program of its kind. Since then, VITA has become a model for similar programs across the country.
This year Cal State Northridge's VITA program will help 5,000 people prepare for their income tax returns at several sites through the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles.. For more information, contact Julie Lichtenberg, School of Business Administration and Economics, at (818) 885-3621
