STEREOTYPES TO BE TOPIC AT SYMPOSIUM

Confronting cultural stereotypes in the media will be the topic of a symposium Thursday, April 11 at 12:15 p.m. in the Shoshone Room of the Satellite Student Union at Cal State Northridge.

Topics include media-created stereotypes, how to view media without a discriminating eye, how to build unity through media and how individuals can use personal power to change stereotypes.

Panelists include Cindy Allen, stand-in on the Louie Anderson show, Lili Berko, CSUN Radio-TV-Film professor, Carmen Ramos Chandler, former Daily News reporter and director of News and Information at CSUN, Lillian Lehman, actress and CSUN profesor, Johnie Scott, CSUN professor of Pan African Studies, and Nate Thomas, award-winning director and producer. Tony Valdez, news reporter for Fox Television, will moderate.

The symposium is sponsored by the President's Advisory Board on Nondiscrimination and Affirmative Action.
