Barriers between traditional types of expression are breaking down; poets have become singers, visual artists, musicians, politicians and actors. "Shouts and Whispers" will showcase some of these new combinations of expression, including performance poets, musicians, literary poets and spoken word performers.
The event, sponsored by the School of the Arts, the School of Humanities and the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, will be in the Art Dome ML 236 on April 9 and 10 and in the Thousand Oaks Room of the University Student Union on April 11.
Scheduled performances include: April 9, 7 p.m., Luis Alfaro, Richard Ferguson, Kathi Martin, Willie Sims and music by Ethan James; April 10, 7 p.m., Erin Aubry, Max Benavidez, Ellyn Maybe, Eric Preistley and music by Ocho-X; and April 11, noon, Liz Belile, Linda Gamboa, Liz Gonzales, Eloise Klein Healy and music by T.N.P.
