Alexander Elected President of Institute of Engineers

Charles K. Alexander, dean of the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Cal State Northridge, has been selected the 1996 president-elect of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Alexander will become president of the organization in January, 1997.

The IEEE is the world's largest technical professional society, with more than 315,000 members in approximately 150 countries. The institute is a leading authority on areas ranging from aerospace, computers and telecommunications to biomedicine, electric power and consumer electronics.

Alexander has been a member of IEEE since 1970, serving as a member of the Board of Directors from 1991-1994, as president of Professional Activities from 1993-1994, and as director for eastern United States from 1991-1992.

Alexander has produced more than 40 publications, including a workbook, and a video lecture series, as well as some 300 paper, professional and technical presentations. He is a registered professional engineer and a member of the American Society of Electrical Engineers.

Alexander and his wife, Paulette, recently moved to Valencia.
