More than 1,000 students were invited to attend the celebration at 5:00 p.m. at the University Club near the corner of Zelzah Avenue and Nordhoff Street.
The seven students will receive special recognition for their overall achievements academically as well as their service to the university and community.
Yvonne Gilon, who is receiving her bachelor's degree in finance, is this year's recipient of the Wolfson Scholar Award, which is given each year to the university's top academic graduate.
Lynn Amate of Simi Valley, who is graduating with a bachelor's degree in Child Development, is this year's recipient of the Karen, Leon, and Rita Goldstein Saulter Memorial Award. This award is given in memory of the Saulter family, which had a long relationship with the university.
Sean Allen of Los Angeles, who is graduating with a bachelor's degree in psychology, and Thomas MacNeil of Winnetka, who earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics, have won the President's Associates Award for Outstanding Graduating Senior.
Jimmy Doi of Pacoima, who has earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics, was named this year's recipient of the Alumni Association's Award for Outstanding Graduating Senior.
Patricia Suenaga of Valencia, who is graduating with a bachelor's degree in sociology, was named the recipient of the Mildred Z. Minninberg Memorial Fund Award, which is given each year to the outstanding graduating returning student. The award was created by Elliot Minninberg, former vice president of administration and finance at the university, in memory of his mother.
Alaric Kim Foong Chong, who has earned his master's degree in mathematics, is this year's recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Student Award.
