CSUN Names New Facilities Manager

Cal State Northridge has appointed Hildo Hernandez, formerly general manager of facilities operations for Los Angeles County, as the new director of the university's facilities operations. Hernandez will assume his new post June 24.

As Director of Facilities Plant Management, Hernandez will direct a staff of more than 200 and manage facilities on the 353-acre university campus with an annual budget of more than $7.5 million.

"His diverse experience in facilities management for Los Angeles and San Diego counties, along with his leadership in the Northridge Earthquake recovery efforts for Los Angeles County, will be valuable assets to our continuing recovery efforts on campus," said Art Elbert, vice president for administration and finance at CSUN.

Hernandez, a Long Beach resident, served as general manager for Los Angeles County Facilities Operations Service, Internal Services Department from 1991 to 1995. Prior to that he served as deputy director of San Diego County's Department of General Services.

He has a bachelor's degree in parks and natural resources management from Sacramento State University and attended the Public Administration Master's Program at San Diego State University.
