EXPERT TO DISCUSS GENDER AND EDUCATION

David Sadker, one of the nation's leading researchers on the impact of gender on education, will inaugurate the Reznik and Reznik Gender Equity Lecture Series at Cal State Northridge on Monday, March 11.

Sadker will speak at 5 p.m. in room 121 of the Speech Drama Building, located at the south end of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge. Crystal Gips, associate dean of the School of Education, will lead a panel discussion after presentation.

David Sadker, with late wife Myra Sadker, spent nearly thirty years studying the relationship of gender and learning and the interactions between gender and instructional practices, centering primarily on pre-collegiate education.

The Sadkers' most recent book, Failing at Fairness: How Schools Cheat Girls, is the result of their study of classroom practice across the country. Their findings concluded gender bias does exist in the classroom.

Seating is limited. For more information, contact Maria Boutin, School of Education, (818) 885-2590.
