Comedy Frolics to Benefit University Resource Institute

Faculty, students and alumni, with the help of a couple professional actors, will host a "Comedy Frolics Benefit" Saturday, Nov. 18, and Sunday, Nov. 19, to raise money for Cal State Northridge's Community Counseling and Resource Institute.

The show will feature comedy sketches written and directed by Marvin Chernoff, an educational psychology professor who has also written several plays that have been produced locally.

Among the performers will be Barbara Keegan, an Emmy Award-winning actress who has appeared in such professional stage productions as "Cheaters" on Broadway, "Barefoot in the Park," and "They're Playing Our Song." Her films include "Absence of Malice," "Caddyshack," "Barracuda," and Jennifer's Journey." She also starred in several television shows.

Also performing will be actor/director Dan Davis, who has performed in regional, summer stock and dinner theater productions of "California Suite," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," and "Charley's Aunt;" as well as several Northridge faculty, students and alumni.

The benefit is sponsored by the university's Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling.

The institute provides low-cost counseling services to residents in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. on November 18 and 4 p.m. on November 19 in the university's Business-Education Auditorium on the west side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St.

Tickets are $12 for students, staff, faculty, alumni and seniors, and $15 for the general public. For reservations or directions, please call (818) 885-2568.
