CSUN HOSTS CAREER CONFERENCE

Cal State Northridge will host "The Family and Consumer Sciences Career Conference" on Saturday, Feb. 10, which will include updates in industry trends, roundtable discussions with professionals and student outreach and recruitment services.

The conference will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the University Student Union, near the center of the campus at 18111 Nordoff St. in Northridge. More than sixty businesses will be represented.

Celebrity nutritionist and CSUN alumnus Carrie Latt Wiatt will be honored at the conference for her entrepreneurship. Wiatt, dubbed the "Diet Diva" by Vanity Fair magazine, founded "Diet Designs, Inc.", a gourmet low-fat food program. She is nationally recognized as an authority on healthy eating and cooking for today's lifestyles. Among her celebrity clientele are Dennis Quaid, Julia Roberts, Candice Bergen, Sela Ward and Steven Spielberg.

Adele Scheele, author of Career Strategies For The Working Woman and currently the director of Northridge's career center, is a featured speaker and will discuss skills for success. Scheele is an internationally respected career strategist and change management consultant.

The event is sponsored by The Department of Family Environmental Sciences, The State Department of Education, Home Economics In-Service Project, Cal State Northridge' s Career Center, Student Dietetic and Food Science Association and the Southern California Institute of Food Technologies.

The conference is open to the public and admission is free. For more information or advanced registration, call (818) 885-3051. On-site registration is available as seating allows. Sack lunches are recommended, or a box lunch may be reserved by Feb. 6 for $6.50.
