California State University, Northridge was accepted as a member-elect of the Big Sky Conference last month. Championship participation in the conference would begin in Fall 1996.
Upon the university's acceptance into the conference, campus officials convened a special task force to determine whether the university could successfully offer a 21-sport program while complying with the requirements of the NCAA, Big Sky Conference and gender equity.
The task force will submit a final report to Ron Kopita, vice president of student affairs, by November 22.
