Northridge to Hold Public Forum on Joining the Big Sky Conference

Cal State Northridge's Big Sky Conference Task Force will hold a forum Wednesday, November 8, to hear the ideas and opinions of its campus constituencies and the public on how the university can best shape the future of its atheletic programs now that it has joined the conference.

The forum is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the Athletic Conference Room on the east side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St.

California State University, Northridge was accepted as a member-elect of the Big Sky Conference last month. Championship participation in the conference would begin in Fall 1996.

Upon the university's acceptance into the conference, campus officials convened a special task force to determine whether the university could successfully offer a 21-sport program while complying with the requirements of the NCAA, Big Sky Conference and gender equity. Copies of the report can be obtained from the university's Office of Public Relations at (818) 885-2130.

The task force will submit a final report to Ron Kopita, vice president of student affairs, by November 22.
