Hayden will take part in a forum, "Exposing the Truth About Affirmative Action: The Myths and the Realities," beginning at 7 p.m. in the University Student Union Theatre near the center of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
Joining Hayden will be representatives from the Asian Pacific Americans for Affirmative Action, the Multi-Cultural Collaborative, the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education Fund, the National Organization for Women and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Following their presentations, a group of Cal State Northridge students will lead a workshop on the issues raised by the proposed California Civil Rights Initiative (CCRI).
The CCRI would prohibit state and local governments from granting preferences based on race or gender in hiring, contracting, and admissions to public universities.
The forum is sponsored by the university's Women's Center, Office of Affirmative Action Programs, NOW, and the San Fernando Valley Affirmative Action Coalition.
