The National Center on Deafness received $1 million from the U.S. Department of Education in continuing support of a project titled "Western Regional Outreach Center and Consortium."

The NCOD and Director Merri Pearson received $599,014 from the U.S. Department of Education for a project titled "Project Menus-Meeting Educational Needs of Underserved Students."

Edward Carroll, Jr. and Belinda Acuna (Science and Mathematics) and Laurence Caretto and Karla Johnson-Majedi (Engineering and Computer Science) received $574,000 from the Office of Naval Research in support of a project titled "Support for Transfer Students in Science and Engineering (STSSEP)."

Charles Hanson (Educational Psychology & Counseling) received $336,099 from the Office of Criminal Justice Planning in continuing support of a project titled "Valley Trauma Center."

Maria Elena Zavala (Biology) received $254,930 from the National Institutes of Health in continuing support of a project titled "MARC Honors Undergraduate Research Training at CSUN."

Merri Pearson (National Center on Deafness) received $251,788 from the U.S. Department of Education in support of a project titled "Preparing Postsecondary Professionals to Improve Opportunities to Recruit, Retain and Graduate Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing."

Nicholas Kioussis (Physics & Astronomy) received $199,273 from the Army Research Office in support of a project titled "Massively Parallel Platform for the Center of Computational Materials Theory."

June Downing (Special Education) received $188,728 from the U.S. Department of Education in continuing support of a project titled "Preparing Teachers to Educate Students with Severe & Multiple Disabilities from Multicultural Backgrounds."

June Downing and Deborah Chen (Special Education) received $179,740 from the U.S. Department of Education in support of a project titled "Project SALUTE: Successful Adaptations for Learning to Use Touch Effectively."

Herman De Bose (Sociology) received $175,000 from the L.A. County Probation Department in support of a project titled "CSUN Youth Service Specialist (YSS) Program."

Sue Sears and Claire Cavallaro (Special Education) received $160,000 from the U.S. Department of Education in continuing support of a project titled "Training Personnel for the Education of Individuals with Disabilities (Mild-Moderate/Moderate-Severe Component)." They also received $145,026 from the U.S. Department of Education in continuing support of a project titled "Training Personnel for the Education of Individuals with Disabilities (Early Childhood Special Education)."

Claire Cavallaro and Nancy Burstein (Special Education) received $149,435 from the U.S. Department of Education in continuing support of a project titled "Special Educators for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learners with Disabilities."

Sue Wasserman (Elementary Education) received $143,820 from the L.A. Unified School District in support of a project titled "Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment Program, '99-'00."

Warren Furumoto (Academic Preparedness) received $112,000 from the Corporation for National Service in continuing support of a project titled "AVID Service Learning Tutorial Program."

Nancy Burstein and Sue Sears (Special Education) received $111,111 from the Los Angeles County Office of Education in continuing support of a project titled "CSUN/Antelope/ Santa Clarita Valley SELPA Special Education Intern Program."

Warren Furumoto (Academic Preparedness) received $86,125 from San Francisco State University in continuing support of a project titled "AMP Summer Bridge Program."

Tom Chen (Family Environmental Sciences) received $55,000 from the California Department of Health Services in continuing support of a project titled "California Project LEAN, Los Angeles Region."

Carol Shubin (Mathematics) received $50,429 from the National Science Foundation in support of a project titled "POWRE: Improving Mathematics for Pre-Service Teachers."

Matthew Boxt and Mark Raab (Anthropology) received $50,000 from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation in support of a project titled "Heritage Conservation in Baja California Sur."

Roger DiJulio (Civil and Manufacturing Engineering) received $48,480 from the University of California as supplemental support of a project titled "MESA Schools Program (MSP) Center."

Matthew Cahn (Political Science) has received $30,000 from CSU, Sacramento, in support of a project titled "A Window of Opportunity: Multidisciplinary Views of California Citizenship in the 21st Century."

Adrian Herzog (Physics and Astronomy) received $25,000 from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory as supplemental support of a project titled "NSCAT/Seawinds Project."

Alan Glassman (Management) received $24,500 from the County of Los Angeles in support of a project titled "Pilot Training Needs Assessment for L.A. County Management Staff."

Catherine Dezseran (Theatre) received $20,000 from the Regents of the University of California as supplemental support of a project titled "Mid-South California Arts Project."
