Presentations

Charles Boulden (University Student Union) presented "Confronting Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Issues in a Technology Setting" at the Association of College Union International Region 15 Conference held at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, in November 1999.

Hakim Chambers (University Student Union) presented "Using Technology to Efficiently Spread Information" at the Association of College Union International Region 15 Conference held at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, in November 1999.

Anthony Dawahare (English) presented a paper titled "Between and Beyond Twentieth-Century Nationalism in the Study of Black American Literature and Culture" at the Modern Language Association convention in Chicago.

Cynthia Desrochers (Elementary Education) presented "A Formative and Summative Teacher Evaluation Plan Using Connecticut Teaching Competencies" to K-12 administrators of Waterford public schools, Connecticut, in December. She also presented "A Model of Supervisory Post-Teaching Analysis for Teacher Formative Assessment" to K-12 administrators of Upper Moreland School District, Pennsylvania, in January.

Lance Dougherty and JoJo Abuan (Satellite Student Union) presented "Student Supervisor vs. Student Employees: The Continuing Battle Between Peers" at the Association of College Union International Region 15 Conference held at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, in November 1999.

Tim Gregory (University Student Union, Administration) and Michael Agyin (University Student Union) presented "ADA Issues in the College Union" at the Association of College Union International Region 15 Conference held at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, in November 1999.

Debra Hammond (University Student Union, Administration) presented "The Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Strategic Planning Process" at the Association of College Union International Region 15 Conference held at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, in November 1999.

Barnabas Hughes (Mathematics emeritus) presented a paper titled "Squares and Quadratics, Roots and Radicals: Activities to Concepts" in Palm Springs at the annual conference of the California Mathematics Council (Southern Section) on Nov. 9, 1999. He also presented a paper titled "Conic Sections-New Equations from New Data" in Asilomar at the annual conference of the California Mathematics Council (Northern Section) on Dec. 4, 1999.

Raymond Juarez (University Student Union, Administration) and Jeremy Sonenschein (University Student Union, Board of Directors) presented "Lessons in Leadership: An Innovative Approach" at the Association of College Union International Region 15 Conference held at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, in November 1999.

Jerry Luedders (Music) presented a paper at the 1999 Assessment Institute held at Indiana University, Indianapolis, in October 1999. The institute selected the presentation for the Best Practices in Assessment. Luedders also presented a paper titled "The School of Music in the 21st Century" at the 75th anniversary meeting of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) in November 1999. At the same conference, he participated in a panel discussion titled "The Future of the Global Innovative Education of Musicians."

Yolanda Mallard-Mike and Gary Homesley (University Student Union, Administration) presented "Why Be Good When You Can Be Great, Student Assistant, Student Achievement Model" at the Association of College Union International Region 15 Conference at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, in November 1999.

Evelyn McClave (English) presented a paper titled "The Grammaticization of Spontaneous Gestures in American Sign Language" at the annual meeting of the Linguistic Society of America in Chicago in January 2000.

Larry Mrozek (Satellite Student Union) presented "Preventing Disease Transmission in the Workplace" and "Late Night at the Student Union" at the Association of College Union International Region 15 Conference held at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, in November 1999.
