

Tom Shannon, chair of the search committee for the job and
CSUN's faculty athletic representative, (left) said the five
finalists (in alphabetical order) are Robert Arias, Myles
Corrigan, Richard Dull, William Lide and Brian Quinn. CSUN
President Blenda J. Wilson is expected to announce the final
candidate.
Under the interview process, each candidate will spend a day
at the university, meeting with campus constituents. Each
candidate is meeting with Wilson; Interim Vice President for
Administration and Finance Jim Sullivan and University
Relations Vice President Bill Outhouse.
Other sessions include with Athletic Department
administrators, the coaches and athletic personnel, the
search committee and the CSUN Athletic Association. Also,
student-athletes, members of the Student Affairs Management
Council and the campus community are invited to attend open
forums in which each candidate will answer audience
questions.
The first candidate to interview was Lide on Tuesday, April
27. Lide has served as director of intercollegiate athletics
at North Carolina Central University since 1995. He also had
stints as director of athletics at Salisbury State (1987-93)
and West Chester University (1993-95).
The second candidate to interview was Corrigan on Thursday,
April 29. Corrigan has been an assistant athletic director at
the University of Washington since 1994. During his tenure
with the Huskies, he also has served as director of football,
baseball and basketball operations. Corrigan spent the 1987-
93 seasons as a UW assistant football coach. He also has
served stints as athletic director/head football coach at
Westminster High School (1978-79) and San Bernardino High
School (1977).
The third candidate to interview will be Dull on Monday, May
3. The open forum for Dull will be from 3-4 p.m. in the
athletic conference room. Dull has been the director of
athletics at Moravian College since May 1998. He also served
stints as director of athletics at the University of Nebraska
at Kearney (1995-98) and at the University of Maryland (1981-
86). Dull worked his way up through the Terrapins
organization, serving as the assistant to the athletic
director for business affairs (1975-80) and as an assistant
director of athletics (1980-81).
The fourth candidate to interview will be Quinn on Tuesday,
May 4. The open forum for Quinn will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
in the athletic conference room. Quinn has been the executive
director of athletic development and promotion at Loyola
Marymount University since June 1998. He served as director
of athletics/ assistant dean at LMU from 1985 to mid-1998.
Quinn also served as assistant principal at Woodbridge High
School in Irvine from 1980-85 and as the athletic director at
Irvine High School from 1975-80.
The final candidate to interview will be Arias on Friday, May
7. Arias' open forum will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the
athletic conference room. Arias has been the president of One
to One/ Los Angeles Communities in Schools since January
1998. He also has served as the president of Los Angeles
Metropolitan Communities in Schools (1996-97) and as the
executive director for the Cities in Schools, southwest
regional office in Los Angeles. Arias had been director of
athletic development at Loyola Marymount from 1985-86.

President Wilson Expected to Announce AD Selection From Among
Five Finalists
Cal State Northridge has narrowed its search for a new
Athletic Director to among five candidates who are visiting
the campus last week and this week for a series of interviews
and discussions, campus officials announced.
