Educational Equity Committee
The Faculty Senate's Educational Equity Committee will meet Mon., Dec. 9, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the president's office conference room C. Campus Planning Board
The Campus Planning Board will meet from 11 a.m. to noon on Wed., Dec. 18, in the president's office conference room C.
New Vision Insurance Carrier
As a result of a competitive bid, the Cal State Northridge vision plan--currently Vision Service Plan (VSP)--will change to a new carrier effective Jan. 1. Employees are advised to not use the VSP plan after Dec. 31, or they will be liable for services. The new carrier will be CPIC Life Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Blue Shield of California, with claims administration by Medical Eye Services. Information about the new plan will be mailed to all campus departments for distribution to eligible state employees this month. CPIC/MES claim forms, provider directories and coverage booklets will be available in the Office of Human Resource Services, Administration Park 702.

Holiday Donation Drive
The University Recycling Program will collect items for its annual Goodwill Holiday Donation Drive through Sun., Dec. 15. The program is sponsored by Associated Students Inc. and the University Corp. Attendants will be on duty from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to issue receipts for tax purposes at two donation sites: the northeast corner of Lindley Avenue and Lassen Street, and the Matador Bookstore complex. Goodwill Industries collects, repairs and reuses the donated items in its job training and vocational rehabilitation program for those with physical and developmental disabilities.

Intersession Class Registration
Registration is under way for intersession classes on the CSUN campus. The program of university credit courses will run Jan. 6 through Jan. 24 and will include dozens of classes from numerous university departments. Catalogs are available in the College of Extended Learning/Bookstore Complex.

Survey on the Effects of Violence
University Counseling Services is conducting a survey of Cal State Northridge faculty, staff and students about the secondary effects of violence. The survey takes five to seven minutes to complete and is confidential and anonymous. It can be found on the World Wide Web at http://www.csun.edu/survey

Eating Disorders Prevention Program
Joint Advocates on Disordered Eating (JADE), CSUN's education and prevention program, is forming a steering committee to plan campus events and presentations for National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, Feb. 3-7. The committee's first planning session will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Mon., Dec. 16, in the University Counseling Services offices. Interested student interns also are invited to participate and can gain experience in program planning, development and facilitation, as well as learn about eating disorders.

Requests for library research sessions can be made through Thu., Dec. 12, for the weeks of Jan. 6 and 13. Nominations for Distinguished Teaching Awards are now being accepted. Faculty and students are encouraged to nominate a professor for this award. Nomination forms and guidelines are available in the Faculty Senate Office, Faculty Office Building 106. The deadline for nominations is Jan. 31.

Poster Fair Planned for February
Faculty members are invited to participate in a poster fair celebrating research, scholarship and creative activity at CSUN planned for Feb. 26-28. Posters will represent work in progress, work completed in the last two years or proposals for ideas in search of collaborators. Faculty members also can display posters describing facilities that support research, scholarship and creative activity at CSUN. There will be no review or evaluation of the posters or abstracts.
Interested faculty should write or e-mail a statement of intent to participate before the end of this semester, Thu., Dec. 19, to Scott Perez, Sponsored Research and Projects, AP706, mail drop 8232, or e-mail email@example.com.
Include your name, title of poster, five keywords (multidisciplinary if possible), your department, office phone, campus mail drop and e-mail address. Participants also should provide a one-page abstract by Mon., Feb. 10. The abstracts will be collated and made available to the university community.
