Open forums on managing the rising level of undergraduate enrollment have been set for 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, October 24 and Tuesday, November 4, in the University Student Union.
October's forum will be held in the USU Grand Salon, and the November event in the USU Northridge Center.
"The forums are opportunities for the campus community to gather and discuss our enrollment challenges, to provide reaction to the options under consideration, and to explore new ideas and strategies," said President Jolene Koester.
In spring 2002, the president appointed an Enrollment Policy Group (EPG), composed of campus community members, to devise policy recommendations and action plans to manage future undergraduate enrollment. The group's recommendations, Koester said, should be sensitive to the university's core values of access and quality in relation to its available resources.
At the forums, policy group representatives will present their initial report containing options shared last spring with campus administrative, student and faculty governance groups. The initial report is available on line at www.csun.edu/studentaffairs/policies/EPG_Initial_Report_040203.pdf.
Those unable to attend the forums may e-mail comments to firstname.lastname@example.org.
President Koester noted that the policy group's final recommendations will be widely shared with the campus community before final action is taken.
Members of the policy group include Associate Vice President for Student Affairs William Watkins, EPG chair; Jorge Garcia, professor, Chicano/a Studies; Mehran Kamrava, chair, Department of Political Science; Albert Kinderman, chair, Department of Systems and Operations Management; Say-Peng Lim, professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy; Lorraine Newlon, director, Admissions and Records; and student Heather Powell.
For information about the forums, contact Associate Vice President Watkins at (818) 677-2391 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
