"Cal State Northridge is a great university, in part because we are the community's university," said CSUN President Jolene Koester. "I hope we will all use this year's CSE Campaign to embrace our community partnerships by attending a group meeting and by considering a generous financial contribution."
This year's campaign chairs-Dean of the Oviatt Library Susan Curzon, Faculty President Diane Schwartz and College of Business Administration and Economics Dean William Hosek-provided the following message to the campus community:
With over 50,000 individuals pursuing a degree or other educational services on campus every year and thousands of others benefiting from campus-based social services, CSUN is clearly the most important center of educational enterprise in the greater San Fernando Valley.
Our impact on the social and cultural fabric of our community is no less impressive, extending far beyond our campus. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of CSUN faculty, staff and students reach out daily to the community, building lasting collaborations that enhance the lives of tens of thousands of our neighbors. As President Koester reminds us, we are a great university, in part "because we are the community's university.
In this year's California State Employee Campaign, we hope both to celebrate and to strengthen our connections to community based agencies. We will hold campaign presentations with agency speakers in each of our divisions across our campus. We hope that these and other forums will be informative and will strike a chord in each of us to add financial support to the gifts of time and talent that we already make.
Thanks for your generosity. And, thanks also to our team of outstanding CSUN volunteers who are leading this year's CSE Campaign effort.
