Northridge Musician's Association
In fall of 2004, student representatives were elected from the student body to meet with the dept. chair with questions and concerns. Each class chose one representative; freshman, sophomore, junior, senior and graduate level as their "voice." After a semester, the students decided to organize themselves into an official Associated Students group, because they wanted to also be proactive in raising funds to help the music department and each other. After their initial organization and approval into this group, they held a fund raising concert and then opened their current financial account through Associated Students.
The students continue to voice concerns through their faculty advisor, and to organize events to raise money to help them attend conferences, to help with any faculty initiatives, guest artists, etc.
