CSUN Youth Orchestras Mission Statement
To provide young musicians of varying ages the opportunity to participate in an educational ensemble experience that will allow them to grow as musicians and performers.

Our Ensembles
Philharmonic - Dr. John Roscigno, Conductor
The Philharmonic is the top level orchestra and is comprised of between 66-76 students each year. This ensemble plays standard orchestra literature mainly from the late romantic period and the 20th century. Auditions are highly competitive and take place in late spring.
Chamber Orchestra - Mr. Ed Kawakami, Conductor
The Chamber Orchestra is a top level ensemble for 36-44 players. The group performs literature from the baroque, classical, early romantic and 20th century periods. Auditions are highly competitive and take place in the spring.
Symphony Orchestra - Mr. Ben Stokes, Conductor
The Symphony is an intermediate orchestra of 60-80 members and plays both standard works and arrangements. Players are expected to have approximately four years or more of experience. Auditions take place in early September each year.
Camerata Strings / Sinfonia Strings - Mrs. Kim Kilgore, Conductor
The Camerata Strings is a group of approximately 46-60 string players all of whom have two to four years experience. The group performs intermediate level works for string orchestra.
Sinfonia Strings is a beginning level ensemble of 8-16 players all of whom have one to two years experience. Auditions for both groups take place in early September each year.
Wind Ensemble - Dr. Richard Kravchak, Conductor
The Wind Ensemble is a beginning to intermediate level group of woodwinds, brass and percussion. Players should have two to four years experience. Auditions take place in early September each year.
