Studio Ensemble

STUDIO ENSEMBLE is a student group dedicated to the study of popular music styles and playing/recording techniques through the preparation and performance of published and student-arranged literature.

Student player/arrangers learn sight-reading from lead sheets, improvising solos, transposing at sight and studio session protocol.

The group meets one day a week in NH107.  The final performance includes jazz and pop standards, vocal ballads, and student arranged and original pieces performed to picture.

The ideal STUDIO ENSEMBLE musician isn’t afraid to take some chances in a lab-band setting, is flexible with his playing and with working with others.

Most of the arrangers are media composers in the COMMERCIAL AND MEDIA WRITING OPTION.
