The NuVeau Art Ensemble

Photo of a trumpet player. In addition to the deep influence from the music of jazz greats such as Ornette Coleman, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter others, The NuVeau Art Ensemble derives its inspiration from György Ligeti, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Paul Hindemith and many more.

While featuring the compositional efforts of its members, the ensemble as a whole often explores the realm of group improvisation, and creates large musical phrases, textures and melodies based on the mood of the players.

Progressive is perhaps the best word to describe “NuVeau”, which was initially patterned after the Billy Mintz’ New York based "Two Bass Band". This improvisational ensemble features the musical talents of 3 brass and 3 woodwind players, a pianist, guitarist, a percussionist, and two double bass players.
