Paul Luxenberg, from Agoura Hills, California, enjoys an international career as a professional tuba player. He is currently on sabbatical as Principal Tuba of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he has held since 2001. Formerly, he held the same position with the Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared with the New York Philharmonic, American and Manhattan Brass Quintets, Malaysia Philharmonic, Singapore Symphony, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Kyushu Symphony, Jerusalem International Symphony, Latvian National Opera, and has participated in the Pacific, Aspen, Eastern, and Bowdoin Music Festivals. Luxenberg has been a featured soloist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Wind Ensemble, and Riverside Orchestra of New York City. Currently, he is instructor of tuba at California State University Northridge, and previously taught at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Baptist University of Hong Kong, and Chinese University of Hong Kong. Luxenberg received his Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees from the Juilliard School as a student of New York Philharmonic Principal Tuba Warren Deck. He also studied privately with Tommy Johnson and Roger Bobo.
