CSUN is a nationally recognized leader in teacher education efforts. CSUN leads California’s public colleges and universities in supplying credentialed teachers.
For the past 6 years CSUN has hosted a series of workshops and public talks by renowned mathematics educators under the auspices of Teachers for a New Era, a grant from the Carnegie Foundation.
In 2006 and 2007 we conducted four two-week summer institutes on algebra for over 120 in-service middle and high school teachers supported by an NSF SCALE grant.
Our teacher education program places a very high priority on excellent teacher preparation within the context of preparing teachers to be highly competent in the mathematics needed for teaching and to enable their future students to score well on achievement tests and to meet the demands of the California K-12 Academic Content Standards for Mathematics.
