How I Went from Math Major to Partner in a Law Firm
Mr. Karpel is a partner in the Los Angeles law firm of Olincy & Karpel. His practice areas are Tax Law, Trusts and Estates, Wills and Probate. He is a Certified Specialist (State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization) in both: (1) Taxation Law; and (2) Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law.
Mr. Karpel also passed the Certified Public Accountant examination in 1972. He was a lecturer for the California Continuing Education of the Bar in 1983 and 1986 and currently for the National Business Institute from 1993-2006. He was a member of the Board of Directors, from 1987-1991, and Treasurer, from 1988-1991, of the Los Angeles Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International. He is a member of the State Bar of California (Taxation and Trusts & Estates Sections) and the Bar Associations of: American (Taxation and Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Sections), Los Angeles County (Taxation and Trusts & Estates Sections), and Beverly Hills (Taxation and Trusts & Estates Sections).
He received a J.D. degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 1977, an M.S. in business administration, accounting in 1973 from California State University Northridge and a B.A. in mathematics in 1971 from California State University Northridge, graduating cum laude.
