Notes for all Early Start Math Face to Face Courses

Face-to-face 6 week courses (June 19 - Aug. 2):
We will offer 3-unit courses equivalent to math 092 (ESM 092) and math 093 (ESM 099). If you are coming to CSUN in Fall 2013, you are strongly advised to take these face to face courses. However, you should only register for these classes if you are prepared to take on the full commitment of taking a course at the university. This means 45 hours of lecture time plus 45 hours of groupwork time plus 45+ hours of homework time. Students who make an effort but do not progress will have fulfilled the ESM requirement, but will not receive credit for the course. This option is strongly encouraged for CSUN First Time Freshman who cannot do Strong Start.

The grading will be as follows:
NC = did not make a sufficient effort
RP = worked but did not progress
CR = moved up one level (either from 092 to 093 or from 093 to GE math)
Days: MTWR
ESM 092 9-noon or 1-4pm
ESM 099 9-noon or 1-4pm

To get started on CSUN’s Early Start Math, please go to “My Checklist” in the CSUN student portal and enter information into the CSU Early Start Smart Page. All courses will be run through CSUN’s Tseng College of Extended Learning. Registration requires a CSUN ID and is handled via the CSUN Student Portal.
